Between Les Eyzies and Montignac-Lascaux the sheer cliff of La Roque Saint Christophe rises above the Vézère.
This one kilometre long and eighty-metre high limestone wall is pitted with hundreds of rock shelters and long aerial terraces. These hollows were occupied in Prehistoric times and then modified to become a medieval fort and town. The guided tour shows you how the cave-dwellers lived.
You will discover the traces left by our ancestors and also a museum of facsimiles of civil engineering equipment, created as a tribute to the builders of the middle ages.
