Very gradually, the action of water creates caves. Water, limestone and time have formed a stone forest: stalactites, stalagmites, columns and curtains fill the galleries and offer visitors one of the densest collections of concretions known. During the New Stone Age, between 25000 and 14000 years ago, Cro-Magnon man decorated the walls. Ibex, deer, mammoths, human figures, and various signs decorate the far end of the cave. It was here that Homo sapiens almost certainly created one of the first human sanctuaries. The guided tour helps you understand this magnificent work undertaken by nature and to admire the creative ability of human beings in the New Stone Age.
